The Lead by Example Powwow took place in Strathmore over the weekend.
Between June 6 and 8, the Strathmore Ag Grounds were filled with Indigenous dancers, local vendors, and food trucks, for a weekend of song, dance, and other activities.
The event was created by Melodie Ayoungman-Hunt four years ago, following the death of her son Kristian.
"The powwow is being held in the honour of an individual who was a role model for many of us," said Chief Ouray Crowfoot of Siksika Nation. "Kristian was an exceptional Siksika Nation member who excelled in many sports and was also a champion traditional powwow dancer."
The event also featured several prizes for the dancers, drummers, and singers - including a grand prize of $10,000 in the singing contest.
The contests covered a variety of ages, from Tiny Toys (0-5) to Elders aged 65 and up.
