A Special Air Quality Statement was issued for Wheatland County, the second alert in the last week.
The statement was released on Tuesday (June 10). According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), wildfire smoke is expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility in the area.
"You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough," wrote ECCC. "More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough."
On June 7 the first air quality statement was released for similar reasons. There was a brief period between Monday and Tuesday where the alert had ended.
ECCC asks that residents limit time outdoors and reschedule any outdoor activities and events.
"Protect your indoor air from wildfire smoke. Actions can include using a clean, good quality air filter in your ventilation system and/or a certified portable air cleaner that can filter fine particles."
