Categories
Wheatland County has been placed under a Fire Advisory.
The advisory was put in place on Tuesday (June 10) due to a moderate fire risk in the area.
Despite the advisory covering Wheatland County, the Town of Strathmore is not affected.
The advisory prohibits the use of public fires or fireworks, but there are several exceptions, including:
- Fires at camping areas
- Incinerators
- Indoor fireplaces
- Gas stoves
- Barbecues
- Regulated burning barrels
- Portable propane fire pits
Wheatland County issued the advisory due to dry, windy, and warm conditions in the area.
"There is a very high risk of fire spread during windy conditions in any cured grass fuel type, such as those that exist across the county."
You can see fire advisories, bans, and restrictions by visiting the Alberta Fire Bans website.
