Southwest golfers, community members, and more can still register to participate in the very first annual Serge Lepine Legacy Tournament in honour of local man, Serge Lepine.
After losing a seven-year battle to cancer, the family of the 54-year-old golf enthusiast have organized what they hope to be the first in many memorial golf tournaments, coming up next Friday at the Chinook Golf Course in Swift Current.
Brenda Lepine shared that her husband was initially diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer in December 2017, which progressed until he passed away on May 28, 2024.
"The goal is to raise funds for patients here in Swift Current who are going through cancer treatments," she said. "It's coming up quick, there's only a couple of spots left in the tournament, and we do have some exciting games and prizes."
Additionally, WW Smith Insurance Ltd. and CAA have each sponsored a $10,000 hole-in-one prize that folks will have the chance to win.
"My husband had asked us to do a golf tournament for him in his memory, because that was the one thing that he loved more than life itself," added Lepine. "I'm excited to do this for him, and we're hoping it's a good turnout."
The tournament will kick off with a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m., and the day will also include a buffet supper, 50/50 tickets, a raffle, and a silent auction.
Anyone interested in registering can call the Chinook Golf Course pro shop at (306) 778 - 2776, and only 100 spots are available.
