The Strathmore Library will host its first annual summer festival.

The event will happen outside of the library on Friday (June 13) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The library's summer programs will be featured, along with activities for all ages. Library volunteers will also be running a hot dog fundraiser to raise funds to support the library's projects.

Some of the programs that will be showcased and available for registration are the Early Literacy Program, the Summer Reading Program, the Wheatland Youth Network, the Adult Literacy Program, Strathmore Area and Adult Inclusive Learning, and the Canadian Parents for French Program.

"We are hoping it will be a big, fun event that really highlights all the different things that we do for all ages," explained Laura Henderson, public services manager with the library.

"This was an opportunity to combine everything together," said Henderson. "We thought this would be a great way to get everyone together."

The library plans to create more events for all people.

"We want the community to see that we have something for everyone," she added. "This could be a chance for the community to see all the different pieces of summer in the library."

The library is also engaging students on summer break by offering roles volunteer roles for the Summer Reading Program.
