River Ridge Golf Club is teeing off on a new chapter.
The scenic course located between Eatonia and Leader has announced plans to construct a brand-new clubhouse, with demolition of the existing mobile-home facility set for Sept. 1. Groundbreaking on the new build will follow immediately after.
The project comes with a $400,000 price tag, with financing already secured through Sandhills Credit Union in Leader. However, club officials say support from the wider community will be essential to help bring the vision to life.
“The current building was only meant to be temporary when it was brought in back in 1998,” said board member Brian Francis in an interview. “It’s been great to us, but after 27 years, it’s time. We’ve seen a renewed interest in golf in our area, and we need a facility that reflects that.”
The new clubhouse will cater to the growing number of golfers and visitors to the course, which has seen a surge in young players and returning families. The club has already introduced a junior program for kids ages 5 to 10, with lessons focused on fun, etiquette, and basic skills.
To support the build, River Ridge is offering a range of sponsorship options, including naming rights for the clubhouse, patio, and kitchen/bar. Clubhouse naming rights are available for $50,000 over five years or $75,000 for 10 years. Additional opportunities include:
-
Patio naming rights: $20,000 (5 years) or $30,000 (10 years)
-
Kitchen & Bar: $20,000 (5 years) or $30,000 (10 years)
-
Golf Cart Sponsorship: $7,500 for 10 years, including logo and company bio on a cart
If multiple sponsors are interested in a naming category, Francis said the club will bring those parties together to work out a fair and equitable solution.
A tiered donor wall will also be displayed in the new clubhouse, with recognition levels ranging from “Par” for donations of $1,000 to $2,499 to “Hole-in-One” for contributions of $10,000 or more.
Despite being located in a rural region, the club is already seeing sponsorship interest from as far as Kindersley.
“We even had a business from Kindersley sponsor a golf cart,” Francis said. “It shows how many people value what this course means to the region, even if they have their own clubs closer to home.”
Tax-deductible receipts are available through the Town of Leader, which is supporting the project by accepting e-transfers, debit, cheques and cash donations on behalf of the club.
Francis added that River Ridge is more than just a place to golf—it’s becoming a dining option, gathering space, and community hub. The course currently features a licensed patio, driving range, chipping and putting green, and a hybrid 18-hole layout with two sets of tee boxes and pins.

“It’s more than just a building,” he said. “It’s about building a future for the next generation of golfers in our area.”
