Thousands of people were baptized over the weekend in what is being called the world's largest synchronized water baptism.

On Pentecost Sunday, over 27,000 people from coast to coast across the United States were baptized through Baptize America, a movement to unite the church across denominations and work together towards a common goal.

Those baptisms were broadcast live on social media.

"From coast to coast, heaven is rejoicing," said Baptize America. "This is more than a moment, it's a move of God!"

Baptize America started in May 2023 as Baptize SoCal, when they witnessed 4,166 people baptized and 300 churches bound together.

In 2024, it changed to Baptize California, when they watched over 12,000 people give their lives to God.

The goal grew in 2025, with intentions of reaching the entire country. On Pentecost Sunday, they reached over 27,000 people, with that number expected to reach even higher.

Over 650 churches from all 50 states took part in the baptism.
