Brandi Vezina is no stranger to Manitoba’s country music scene—and this Friday night, she’s bringing her bold sound and signature “country glam” back to Summer in the City in Steinbach, opening the mainstage ahead of High Valley.

The Métis singer-songwriter is currently touring in support of her latest EP, Grit and Glamour—a deeply personal collection of songs written between 2022 and 2024. The project blends heartfelt storytelling with high-energy performances and Vezina’s fierce authenticity.

“I wanted to grow. I wanted to evolve,” Brandi shared in a recent interview with Carly Koop on the Country 107 Morning Show served up by A&W Steinbach. “These songs come from lived experiences. From grief, from love, from joy. They’re about things that matter.”

The EP’s closing track, “Next Time I Love”, is a dreamy, hopeful reminder that healing takes time—and that love should bring peace, not pain.

“I always tell my friends going through something hard: give it a year. You’ll be in a totally different place,” she explained. “This song is about that. About waiting for love that feels like an oak tree—strong, rooted, and steady.”

Along with her new music, Brandi brings a performance that’s full of spirit. Expect fiddle, high energy, and even a few crowd-favorite covers—all delivered with her signature country glam flair.

So what exactly is country glam?

“Fringe, rhinestones, fishnets, big Dolly hair—and unapologetic confidence,” Brandi laughs. “That’s it. That’s the vibe.”

She’s not just about the music either—Brandi’s heart for her fans and her deep gratitude for every stage she steps on shines through in everything she does. “Every time I get to perform is a blessing. I don’t take any of it for granted.”

Before wrapping up, Carly had a little fun with Brandi in a rapid-fire round of questions. Brandi shared that while she works best at night, she still likes to be up by 7 a.m. Her go-to road trip snack? Ketchup chips. Dream stage? The Grand Ole Opry. If she met Willie Nelson, she’d absolutely fangirl. Unsurprisingly, she’s team cowboy boots over sneakers. Her first concert was either Meat Loaf or John Mellencamp—she can’t quite remember. In her purse or guitar case, you’ll always find picks and lip gloss (country glam, of course). After a show, she unwinds by doing vocal exercises and listening to music. She recently rewatched the Flowers in the Attic series and says if she could instantly master any instrument, it would be the bass. Her coffee order is simple: organic, fair trade, black. And if she wasn’t making music? “I’d be very sad, depleted, and depressed,” she said. Thankfully, she is making music—and we get to enjoy it.
