The City of Grande Prairie advises commuters of upcoming road construction projects, with work expected to begin Wednesday, June 11, weather permitting.

Richmond Industrial Park: 97 Avenue (108 Street to 112 Street)

Construction begins on 97 Avenue with underground valve and hydrant work on behalf of Aquatera, followed by full road excavation and reconstruction.

Work begins at 112 Street and will progress west along 97 Avenue. During valve and hydrant work, sections of the road between 109 Street and 112 Street will be open to local traffic only, with detours in place. Single-lane traffic is expected in other sections as work progresses. Businesses remain open and accessible throughout construction. Temporary delays may affect vehicle traffic, transit and business entrances.

Transit impacts: Route 3 will be impacted in the coming weeks. Currently, only minor delays are expected, and no stop closures are planned. Some stops may be temporarily relocated as the work advances.

99 Street and 139 Avenue

Work begins tomorrow, June 11, on 139 Avenue between 99 Street and 100 Street, including full road excavation and reconstruction. 139 Avenue will be closed for one day only, with access maintained to Frontier Eatery & Saloon.

As part of the same project, 99 Street is receiving a mill and overlay from 132 Avenue to the north city limit. This work is expected to cause minimal disruption to the surrounding area. Signage and detours are in place to guide traffic around the work zones. No transit impacts are anticipated.

Drivers are reminded to follow posted signage and observe speed limits in construction zones for the safety of all road users.

The City thanks residents, businesses and commuters for their cooperation during these improvement projects. For ongoing updates, visit cityofgp.com/construction.
