Financial support for the Canadian Red Cross and wildfire evacuees in Saskatchewan is pouring in.
By 9:50 a.m., $86,880.20 has been donated during the Saskatchewan Day of Caring radiothon. That mark includes a $25,000 donation from Saskatoon Co-op.
Nutrien Ag has pledged to match up to $100,000 in donations - this hasn't been included in the 9:50 a.m. total update. The federal government's matching donation for the final total isn't included in the $86,880.20 raised either.

Radio stations and broadcasters from across Saskatchewan are uniting together Thursday in support of the Canadian Red Cross and wildfire evacuees.
Thirty-seven radio stations and 17 online news portals, based in Saskatchewan, are dedicating airtime and content space for the Saskatchewan Day of Caring -- a province-wide radiothon to raise funds and awareness for those impacted by the 2025 Saskatchewan wildfires.
Golden West Broadcasting's Saskatchewan Content Lead and one of the coordinators for the fundraising initiative, Glenn Rogers, said the idea stemmed from the Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper in 2024. It was replicated last week in Manitoba, raising over $419,000.
"It's going to be a big day, I'm not sure there's been a collaboration this big with fellow media partners, but setting all of that aside, it's all for this great province of ours and stepping up for this need," he said.
All the funds raised during the day-long radiothon will go to the Canadian Red Cross Saskatchewan 2025 Wildfires Appeal. They will use donations to help those impacted by the wildfires with immediate and ongoing relief, including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them. Funding will also be used for recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires, supporting community preparedness, and risk reduction in the future.
"We've had a lot of organizations step up, including the federal government, which is matching donations throughout the day," Rogers said. "We've now heard, leading up to it, from a number of corporate partners and big businesses in Saskatchewan that plan to be a part of our day of caring with some very big donations. It's going to be an exciting day for Saskatchewan as we come together, as we have many times before, and I can't wait to see what the result of this will be."
Individuals, families, and companies looking to contribute to the Canadian Red Cross Saskatchewan 2025 Wildfires Appeal can text RADIO to 45678 to make a $10 donation or can visit the Canadian Red Cross donation page here.
A social media hashtag has also been set up as #SKDayOfCaring
