Preparation has already started in anticipation of a roundabout to be built south of Landmark.
The roundabout will be constructed at the intersection of Provincial Roads 311 and 206, about four miles south of Landmark.
Last year, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) implemented a four-way stop at that intersection to support the Manning Canal bridge construction project. The bridge opened in mid-November and according to our province, following the reopening, a review concluded that the department's preferred course of action is to continue the four-way stop control until the planned project to reconstruct this intersection begins.
Motorists driving in that area may have already seen some of the site preparation for this project. According to a provincial spokesperson, though the project is still in the design phase, crews are already relocating the utilities.
The tender for this project is anticipated to be awarded in 2025. Initially, a provincial spokesperson indicated the anticipated construction completion was fall of 2025. That has now changed to completion by summer of 2026.
Traffic will be temporarily detoured at the intersection during construction. The project will also include surface reconstruction.
