The County of Grande Prairie will host five Municipal Development Plan (MDP) information sessions — both in-person and online.
A Municipal Development Plan is a community’s long-term guide to growth and development. The proposed MDP incorporates key findings from two phases of consultations and in-depth analyses of the County’s current state, industries, and infrastructure. The finalized MDP will serve as the long-term plan for land uses and future development areas in hamlets and across the County. This will ensure sustainable growth that meets the needs of our community over the next 50 years.
“The County would like to thank residents for the valuable insights and feedback they provided during the last two consultations. Based on that feedback, several changes have been incorporated into the draft, such as an updated land use concept for the County,” says County Planning Director Reed Desroches. “The proposed MDP ensures the County is growing in a way that aligns with the vision residents have for our County.”

In-Person Information Sessions
Information boards at each event will outline land-use bylaws for hamlets, development areas, permitted types of growth, and protected areas. These sessions will give residents an opportunity to review the proposed changes, ask questions, and provide feedback on the County’s long-term plan, ensuring transparency and our commitment to community engagement.
