When word got out that Prairie Cresting Company was closing its doors earlier this year, it sparked concern throughout the Kindersley community.

“We didn’t want to lose this service,” recalls Carissa Graham. “We didn’t want to have to go to the city for things. We wanted to keep it local.”

That strong desire to preserve a beloved local business led Graham to purchase Prairie Cresting Company herself. As a lifelong Kindersley resident, parent, and active community member, she saw the value Prairie Cresting brought not just to businesses and sports teams, but to everyday people looking for that perfect personalized gift or garment.

“I've been on all ends of it,” she says. “From ordering swag at work, to scrambling for a custom hoodie for my kid’s sports team, to wanting a cute, funny shirt for a concert – I understood the need from every angle.”

Now officially operating the business since February 1st, and hands-on since March, Graham has been learning the ropes quickly. Whether it’s embroidery, heat press, design software, or day-to-day logistics, she’s diving into it all with determination.

“We do custom shirts with heat press and embroidery, mostly for businesses doing PR or sports teams, or anybody who has a fun idea,” Graham explains. “Hats, shirts, sweaters – we can recreate pretty much anything. Or we can help source it. Cups, cards, patches – we’re open to anything.”

One of her goals is to make Prairie Cresting more than just a custom apparel provider – she wants it to be a go-to destination for personalized gifting. From cozy sweaters to camping chairs and stickers, the shop is expanding its retail footprint, offering ready-made items that change with the seasons.

“I want people to be able to pop in and find something thoughtful for Mother’s Day, a birthday, or just because,” she says. “We’re building out the storefront so you can browse and bring something special home today.”

Prairie Cresting also offers logo design and an online store, ideal for businesses and teams looking to streamline group orders or build a cohesive brand.

Looking ahead, Graham has big dreams. “Engraving is probably our next step,” she notes. “We’re looking at upgrading equipment so we can turn things around faster and keep up with demand. But I’m trying to take it one step at a time.”

More than anything, she’s passionate about supporting the town she calls home.

“This is where I’ve lived my whole life. My kids are growing up here. The local businesses are the ones helping fix the rinks, the ball diamonds, the volleyball club. I want to contribute to that.”

Her message to Kindersley and the surrounding area is simple: bring your ideas.

“Let’s connect! Stop by and let’s talk about how we can bring your idea to life,” Graham invites. “We’re excited to keep making amazing things together.”
