A special opportunity to focus in on what the Town of Kerrobert has to offer took place back at the start of June.

Shortly after their official launch as a group, the Kerrobert Growth Investment Cooperative invited residents in for a chance to hear from their Board of Directors, and also a special guest speaker in business commentator and analyst Paul Martin on June 5.

KGIC views themselves as "a group of individuals with the vision of bringing commerce & community together to grow our future", together for the common goals of supporting new businesses, employment, and services in Kerrobert. The discussion was a good chance for people who weren't familiar with the group to learn more.

Thankfully for anyone who couldn't make it, the meeting was recorded and posted online through the Kerrobert Growth Investment Cooperative page on YouTube, available below.

Following the night of discussion, Martin used the Kerrobert chat as one of the topics for his radio show.

He had nothing but good things to say about the community clearly on the rise, "plowing new ground in a bid to spark new economic activity" according to Martin, adding that the community is quite picturesque as well.

Martin feels the KGIC is a sign that Kerrobert is "putting their money where their mouth is". In just over a year of planning and work they managed to secure approval from the Provincial Securities Commission and raise up to $1 million dollars in equity for local infrastructure.

Martin shared that Kerrobert is currently short of houses and commercial buildings to support some 100 new residents over the past 18 months. He then finished his segment by saying a few ideas are in place to "create a revolving capital pool that will also pay dividends to investors who join the co-op, allowing the local residents to take a proactive role in building the community for the next generation."

The meeting took place at the Prairieland Community Centre Hall; the engaging talk completed with coffee and donuts. Hear Martin's radio segment in full below.
