A music recital is highlighting the talents of local students.

Ally Brigley Music Studio is hosting its first spring recital at Strathmore United Church on Friday (June 20) at 7 p.m.

40 students will be performing piano pieces and vocal selections during the evening showcase.

"Every kid is so different, and they all have different ways of learning and different ways that they thrive," said vocal and piano coach Ally Brigley. "Getting to work with them personally one-on-one has always been something that I've always wanted to do."

Brigley has been running her music studio full time for the past year, after teaching part time for nearly a decade.

"It's an opportunity that is really special and not like anything," she said. "Not every performance is going to be perfect, so being able to go up there and offer what you can on that day is enough. I think that is a really important lesson for kids to learn."

After the recital, students will set new goals, and some are going to perform again at Kinsmen Park on Canada Day.

"Getting as many parents, family, friends, and loved ones out to these events to support the students is so important," Brigley added. "Showing up is huge."

The music studio is also planning another Christmas recital later this year.
