Elizabeth “Beth” Logan Petersen, nee Bertram, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones in Cabri, Saskatchewan on Friday, June 13, 2025.
Born in Milden, Saskatchewan on March 3, 1944, youngest of 5 girls to Beverly & Betty Bertram of Milden, Saskatchewan. Beth went on to Beauty School in Saskatoon and then moved to Cabri to work, it was in Cabri that she met Robert “Bob” Vernon Petersen (Buntrock) and they married October 24, 1964.
Beth lived a life full of compassion, strength, and quiet grace. She loved many—and many loved her back. Her kindness, humour, and unwavering community support made her a cornerstone in the lives of those who knew her.
Beth was the heart of her family and the memory keeper of her community. She had an extraordinary gift for remembering important dates—birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and milestones—and people came to her often to ask, “Do you remember when…?” Whether it was a family event or a neighbour’s special day, Beth always knew, and she never forgot.
A deeply meaningful chapter unfolded in October 2021, when Bob and Beth’s son found her. From the moment they reconnected, Don and his family were embraced with open arms and full hearts by Beth and her girls. Beth cherished the chance to get to know Don and his family. She found great joy in watching the bond grow between her son and her daughters, as their connection deepened with love and understanding.
Beth is lovingly survived by her children: Donald “Don” Charles Keays (Tracy), Robin Lynn Petersen (Rick), Sheila Diane Bos (Clay), and Ashley Elizabeth McClenaghan (Jeff), each of whom carry her legacy in their hearts and homes.
Grandchildren: Trent Keays (Chantal), Chelsea Keays (Colin), Leighton Keays, Whitney Keays (Rob), Nadia Herring (Bradley), Jessie Huber (Aaron), Avery Herring, Dylan Herring (Sam), Will Bos, McClay Bos, Jaxson Bos, and Cayl Bos.
Great-Grandchildren: Kaylee, Owen, Alexa, Olivia, Emma, Liam, Caden, Jayse, Rhyse, Layton and Colter.
Step-Children: Doug Kennedy (Sue), Allan Kennedy (Rhonda), John Kennedy (Cindy), Grant Kennedy (Luz)
Step-Grandchildren: Christopher, Cathleen, Connor & Sarah (Kash, Palmer), James, Jill & Wouter, Jaclyn & Dane (Remi, Lyla), Callie & Brett (Jack), Shalyn & Josh
She also leaves behind her two beloved cats, Tink and Ted.
Beth was predeceased by her husband, Robert Vernon Petersen, her daughter Wendy Dawn Petersen, her grandsons Zane Bertram Petersen and Caleb Jax Rogers. She also mourned the loss of her life partner, Donald “Don” Alexander Kennedy, and two cherished step-granddaughters, Brianne Carol Kennedy and Cassidy Sue Kennedy. Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Bev and Betty Bertram, her sisters Marjorie Elizabeth Bertram, Sheila Ann Bertram, Beverly Joan McKee and Margaret Florence Herd, her in-laws Clifford and Marguerite Petersen, brother-in-law Nelson Daryl Petersen, and many dear friends who held a special place in her heart.
Beth’s love for her family was unwavering, and her memory will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
