A few construction projects are currently taking place in the West Central region as we head towards the end of June. One is nearly complete; another will stretch into the start of July.

Starting with the roadwork on Highway 44 between Glidden and Eston, the stretch of highway that has been undergoing work since May is nearing the finish line. Seal coating has been the main task, starting about 1.6 km east of Highway 21 to the finishing point 5.9 km away from the Glidden intersection, and that work is finally scheduled to be complete on Wednesday after beginning exactly 50 days ago.

Another seal coating project started on June 19 west of Kindersley on Highway 7 and is expected to be completed by July 1. The work started 5 km west of Kindersley and is going all the way to 21 km west of town.

A width restriction is in place, along with a 60 km/h speed limit. Pilot vehicles are in attendance with traffic cut down to a single lane, with delays of about 20-30 minutes being noticed on average.

The only other road construction project currently ongoing in the region is on Highway 14 between Biggar and Perdue. Construction active since June 17 has been making for extra caution and reduced speeds with flag persons on site along with the construction workers and is scheduled to be done by the end of the week.
