The City of Grande Prairie is now accepting applications for election workers to support the upcoming 2025 Municipal Election.

Election workers play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the voting process. Multiple paid positions are available for both Advanced Voting and Election Day, offering an opportunity to contribute to the democratic process while earning income in a temporary role.

Voting Dates and Polling Station Times:

·       Advanced Voting: October 9–11 and October 16–18, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

·       Election Day: October 20, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To support the election activities, workers will be scheduled to start at varying times and are split into day and night shifts. Approximate shift times will between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., with night shifts beginning at 5 p.m. and concluding when all ballots are counted.

Available Roles:

·       Presiding Deputy Returning Officer (PDRO): Supervises all activities at the voting station, ensures compliance with election procedures, and leads the election team. Hourly wage varies by shift, ranging from $27 to $30.

·       Deputy Returning Officer (DRO): May serve in various positions, including Information Officer, Registration Officer, Ballot Officer, Ballot Box Attendant, Ballot Counter, Institutional Team Member or Standby Worker. Responsibilities vary by role and include greeting voters, verifying eligibility, issuing ballots, monitoring ballot boxes and assisting with closing procedures. Hourly wage ranges from $22 to $25, based on the shift.

All election workers will receive paid training in mid September to ensure they are confident and well-prepared for their duties. All workers will be paid at a flat rate of $75.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and available for both training and assigned voting days. No prior experience is required, and all necessary materials and instructions will be provided. Positions are filled as applications are received. The City encourages all applicants to apply early.
