Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Saturday morning warning residents in central Saskatchewan to be alert for funnel clouds developing throughout the afternoon and early evening.
The advisory cites a low pressure system creating favourable conditions for weak rotation beneath rapidly growing clouds and isolated thunderstorms. While these funnel clouds typically pose little threat near the ground, officials caution that some could intensify into landspout tornadoes.

“Landspout tornadoes are generally weak but can still cause damage such as toppling trees, damaging roofs, or tossing debris,” Environment Canada said in its statement.
Residents are urged to monitor weather updates closely and seek shelter if threatening weather approaches. Reporting of severe weather can be done by email to SKstorm@ec.gc.ca, phone at 1-800-239-0484, or via social media on X using #SKStorm.
No confirmed tornado touchdowns have been reported as of Saturday morning, but the agency reminds the public that conditions can change rapidly.
