Canada Strong Pass unlocks summer adventures for families and youth

This summer, Canadians are being invited to rediscover their home and native land with the newly launched Canada Strong Passa federal initiative offering free or discounted access to the country’s top cultural and natural attractions.

Running from June 20 to September 2, 2025, the pass makes it easier—and more affordable—for families, youth, and visitors to explore national parks, museums, railways and more. There’s no physical pass to carry or registration required. Just show up at participating locations and take advantage of the savings.

A coast-to-coast invitation

Whether it’s hiking in Banff, taking a train through the Maritimes, or visiting a National Art Gallery in Ottawa, the Canada Strong Pass aims to encourage Canadians to connect with their country—and each other—through shared experiences.

“Whether it’s visiting a national park they always wanted to see, exploring a museum, or booking a camping trip, families can create lasting memories together,” said Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture. “This Pass is about celebrating a strong, united Canada.”

What's included in the Canada Strong Pass

  • Parks Canada: Free admission to all national historic sites, parks, and marine conservation areas, plus 25% off camping fees.

  • National museums & Plains of Abraham Museum: Free admission for those 17 and under, and 50% off for youth aged 18–24.

  • VIA Rail: Free rail travel for kids (17 and under) travelling with an adult, and 25% off fares for youth 18–24.

  • Participating provincial/territorial museums and galleries: Free entry for children, and half-price admission for young adults.

The pass is open to everyone, including international visitors, and applies to general admission only. Some experiences, such as guided tours or special exhibits, may not be included.

No pass, no problem

Unlike many summer promotions, the Canada Strong Pass doesn’t involve printing or downloading anything. Simply visit a participating site, and the discounts or free admission will apply automatically.

“Transportation is more than just a means to get from one place to another—it’s a way to connect Canadians,” said Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Transport and Internal Trade. “This initiative allows Canadians to travel, connect and celebrate what makes our country so special.”

Boosting tourism, strengthening identity

The initiative is expected to give a lift to the Canadian tourism sector while supporting families and youth. Participating institutions include Parks Canada, national museums, and VIA Rail—each playing a key role in preserving Canadian heritage and enabling access.

“This summer, let’s choose Canada,” said Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism. “Rediscover our country, support local businesses and celebrate the communities that make Canada extraordinary.”

For those who already purchased a Parks Canada Discovery Pass for June through August 2025, good news: it will be automatically extended by three months. And anyone who booked a Parks Canada campsite during the promotion period will receive a prorated refund.

More than a discount

At its core, the Canada Strong Pass is about more than just savings—it’s a celebration of Canadian identity. From sweeping landscapes to cultural institutions, it brings people closer to the places that shape who we are.

“With fewer financial barriers, we hope even more people will have the chance to explore our stunning landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich cultural heritage,” said Anna Gainey, Secretary of State for Children and Youth.

To get started, visit the Canada Strong Pass webpage, or check directly with participating Parks Canada sites, museums, galleries and VIA Rail for specific details.

From the Rockies to the Atlantic coast, there’s never been a better time to explore Canada.

As Canadians prepare to celebrate Canada Day tomorrow, the Canada Strong Pass offers more than just free admission and travel discounts—it’s a reminder of everything we have to be proud of. From the vast beauty of our national parks to the stories told in our museums and the connections made across provinces and generations, the Pass invites us to rediscover the places and experiences that unite us. It’s a celebration of our shared identity, our diversity, and the spirit of togetherness that makes Canada strong—today, tomorrow, and all summer long.
