With Canada Day (July 1) right around the corner, there is no shortage of celebrations happening in the area.
Here are a few local events going on for Canada Day:
Strathmore
Kicking off the day will be a pancake breakfast at the Strathmore Fire Hall. Residents will be able to enjoy pancakes, eggs, sausages, coffee, and juice while listening to the tunes of local musician Melissa Matheson.
There will also be tons of festivities going on at Kinsmen Park, including several markets and food trucks.
The day ends with a fireworks celebration above Kinsmen Lake at 11 p.m.
Chestermere
The annual Canada Day By The Lake returns to John Peake Memorial Park for the first of July.
The event will also feature markets and a pancake breakfast along with live entertainment.
There will also be a Kids Zone featuring wagon rides, games, face painting, caricatures, and balloon animals.
Some of the performances include Jaiden Riley and Mark Allan, Follow the Rabbit, and Camie Leard Band. There will also be a fireworks show above Chestermere Lake.
Brooks
Over in Brooks they'll be hosting a free barbecue lunch and pancake breakfast. There will also be glitter tattoos, bouncy castles, and a family tree workshop.
JC Productions will also be hosting an openic mic event, with most of the festivities taking place at the JBS Canada Centre.
Duke of Sutherland will also be hosting soccer games between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
