After last year's rainy Canada Day, Strathmore was greeted with hot, dry temperatures on Tuesday (July 1).

There was a variety of activities at the event, from canoe rides to cornhole. There were also several musical performances, including Miss Ally's music students and headliner In/Vertigo.

Residents from far and wide attended the event, including Emma Nauffts, who became a Canadian citizen last year after arriving from Scotland.

"I absolutely adore Canada. In fact, Canada Day is one of my favourite days," said Nauffts. "I love Canadian culture, I love Canadian people. The weather, the landscapes, everything about it."

There were also train rides for the kids as they got their faces painted and visited the petting zoo. Several food trucks were also selling cotton candy and other goodies.

"I like that there are kids on the trains," added Nauffts. "I love watching my kids have fun, play, and eat all the junk foods. I love being with them and being in the sunshine."

The Canada Day celebrations ended with a fireworks show above Kinsmen Lake.
