13-year-old charged after downtown Medicine Hat break-in

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested and charged following a break-in at a business in downtown Medicine Hat.

Police say they were called to a business in the 700 block of 2 Street SE shortly after 10 p.m. on June 29, after receiving a report of a break and enter in progress.

When officers arrived, they discovered a broken window. With the assistance of a police service dog, they searched the premises and found the suspect hiding inside.

The teen was taken into custody and charged with break and enter to commit theft. She has since been released and is scheduled to appear in Medicine Hat provincial court.

Her name will not be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
