July is racing by as the first weekend of the month brings Go-karting to the next level.
St Labre 200 brought Go-Karters together for a build day, and a race day featuring 100-lap heats and alumni races.
Rob Tetrault and his team from Tetrault Wealth have been attending this event for years.
Tetrault says that he has seen the event grow since the beginning.
“It started as like a brother challenging another brother who could build a Go-Kart the best. And then uncles joined in, and family, and friends. And now it's whoever. Whoever's passionate about the community, about Go-Kart racing.”
This event takes place on a dairy farm property that sells its own ice cream on the grounds, making the event feel even more connected to a family and community.
“I was here from the beginning, very first years, you know, 15 years ago and it's always been a community-focused event. My mom grew up in this town so for us to come back here it’s back to our roots. We used to come here, you know, Christmas and hang out with grandma and all our cousins. And it's all that family that set this up, it's amazing.”
The event includes more than just races, there is also an excavator rodeo, food, bouncy castles, and more. All of these activities have been coordinated by volunteers.
“For me, it's something that I circle on my calendar every year. Make sure I come out here, enjoy the day, win or lose. It's just you see your family, your friends, and you have a great time.”
Tetrault also says that as this event raises money for charities such as Woodridge Community Club and Helping Hands, it is amazing to see the numbers grow.
“It's a unique. It's one of a kind. I've never seen anything like it in the country. And it's something special that they figured out here.”
