Airdrie residents are facing a wall of summer road, pathway and parking disruptions as the City of Airdrie juggles water repairs, utility work and long-haul rehabilitation projects across major routes.

The longest closure now underway is on Main Street SE between Elk Hill and Erin Drive. Temporary lane closures are expected to continue through a phased approach until August 31, 2026, to accommodate road rehabilitation.

The same end date applies to 312 East Lake Road NE, where a long-term parking restriction is in place for booster pump construction.

Other closures running into late summer include:

  • Nose Creek Park, where pathway access is restricted until September 1 due to pedestrian bridge repairs

  • Main Street – between Summerfield Blvd and Yankee Valley Blvd, closed to alternating lanes through July 30 for road work

  • Sierra Springs Drive SE, East Lake Ramp NE, and Yankee Valley Blvd from QEII to East Lake Blvd, all undergoing similar lane closures through July 30

Several projects are due to wrap up mid-July, including a temporary road and lane closure at Main Street S and Ridgegate Way. Two-way traffic is being maintained throughout, and work is scheduled to finish by July 18. The same date applies to a full road closure on Jensen Crescent and Jensen Place for water distribution rehabilitation.

Work is also winding down at 1 Avenue and 1 Street, where an alley has been shut since May for drainage repairs, and is set to reopen by July 9.

A new set of lane closures begins today on East Lake Ramp NE, with road rehabilitation scheduled through July 30.

The city confirmed additional short-term impacts this week, including:

  • A single-day road closure on July 4 at 304 Woodside Circle for a water service repair

  • A temporary lane closure from July 4 till today at Highway 567 and Range Road 291 to accommodate subdivision work

  • Ongoing phased lane closures on Range Road 291, set to end July 10, tied to utility servicing

  • Daily lane closures on Main Street S near South Point Landing, continuing through July 19 (7 a.m. to 5 p.m. only, excluding July 1)

Several disruptions have already ended, including:

  • Edwards Way, where a parking lane closure wrapped July 5

  • Gateway Road, reopened July 4 after utility tie-ins

  • 1 Avenue W, where a sidewalk closure for excavation work concluded June 30
