There are several events and activities happening at the Kinsmen Park pavilion throughout the summer.

1. Cornhole

The Mad Hatter's Cornhole Club is moving outdoors for the summer.

Games take place every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., starting July 10 and running until Aug. 28 at Kinsmen Park, underneath the pavilion.

The club was formed in August last year and welcomes players of all ages and skill levels.

Each evening features a four-game round-robin followed by a double-elimination playoff. Stakes are involved, as the $20 entry fee goes toward a prize payout, with 60 per cent awarded to winners.

No equipment, partner, or experience is required. Participants must register to play.

2. Square Dancing

The Wheatland Whirlers are now dancing under the pavilion for the summer.

Free square dances are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Kinsmen Park until Aug. 27.

Participants learn square dance steps led by Dave Littlefair, the club's caller since 2008. Round dances are also featured, called by Claudia Littlefair.

The club's regular season returns in October and runs through April for its 52nd year. The group began in 1974.

No experience, partner, or registration is required.

3. The Farmers Market

Strathmore's Farmers Market is in full swing for the season.

Running since June 6, the market takes place every Friday from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. under the pavilion. Local small businesses and vendors gather each week through to the final market on Sept. 19.

This summer marks the market's 30th season.
