Food, friends, and fun times are all anticipated at Mitchell and Area Fun Days, which is coming up quickly.
Brian Esau, councillor for the area in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, says the two-day event, running July 12-13, will be overflowing with excitement.

"It starts at 8 a.m. (Saturday) with a free pancake breakfast at the community centre," he says, adding the menu features pancakes (of course), scrambled eggs and ham.
At 11 a.m., the beloved Mitchell Fun Days Parade kicks off, weaving its way from Gospel Fellowship Church to Stahn Field Park. Esau says there’s still time to register a float—and registration is free.
Once the parade winds down, Stahn Field Park transforms into a hub of activity with something for everyone. From a chainsaw carving demonstration to bubble soccer, a petting zoo, barrel rides, and more.
Later in the day, at the Community Centre, there will also be a car show.
Esau says there is no cost to participate in any of these activities, although the canteen and chicken barbecue dinner at 5 p.m. at the Community Centre will come with a price tag.
Missing from this year will be baseball, due to a lack of entries. Even so, Esau says the shift has only strengthened the focus on family-friendly fun.
As the sun sets, folks are invited back to Stahn Field Park with their lawn chairs, where Cracked Egg Shell will bring the evening to life with live entertainment, leading into the showstopper.
"At 10:45 p.m., we have our fabulous fireworks. We are hoping to put on a show just as good as last year, or better," the councillor says.
Sunday will bring a church service, followed by a small barbecue served by donation.
Though Mitchell is playing host, Esau encourages everyone to join in the celebration.
"It's a great community builder, it's a chance, once a year, for all the people in Mitchell to get together, meet their neighbours, and just fellowship," he says.
