A local police detachment is giving the general public a reminder on respectful riding with the summer here, specifically aimed at youth after reports of disrupting noise around the community.

"Once again it is that time of year when residents are annoyed and tired with others that don’t have enough courtesy to teach their kids respectful riding practices on their dirt bikes and ATV’s," said Biggar RCMP Staff SGT. Dereck Crozier. "The only fun thing about them is for the person operating them, no one else wants to be listening to the noise makers."

Crozier is all for summer fun, but just wants to remind people where they should be riding.

"If we don’t want to have to walk those machines out of town to a lawful place to operate them, it would be appreciated by everyone in town if parents would have a candid conversation with their young operators on these toys."

June was ATV Safety Month, and now into July the tips are more appropriate than ever. Check out some safe-riding details below before hitting the trails your next time out.
