Miles Petersen knows these hot, dry weeks of summer can take a toll on Saskatchewan’s ag sector.
“It’s a very stressful time of year,” he says. “I want to help out with farmers and ranchers who are lacking water in their dugouts for their cattle.”
Miles Petersen, the owner-operator of MJ Petersen Transport based in Mortlach and Kindersley , has largely built his business by hauling water for oilfield service providers. The energy industry remains key to his operation, though he sees expansion potential – and a noticeable need – for his services among area producers.
“The bulk of my time in the last few years has been with the oilfield, and it still has a major part in it,” he says. “But I want to expand my company to farmers and ranchers. I’ve done a lot for them in the past, too.”
MJ Petersen Transport has a fleet of trucks, each equipped with a small pump.
“It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to load a truck, depending on the source, and the same to unload,” he says.
Given his central location, Miles Petersen can service customers in most parts of the province.
“We work everywhere,” he says. “Just give us a notice and we’ll book it into our system.” He adds that MJ Petersen Transport’s employees are fully insured and covered by the WCB.
With more than 40 years of experience in trucking, Miles Petersen knows a thing or two about the industries Saskatchewan relies on, and he’s proud to offer a service that helps them succeed.
