The La Broquerie Farm and Community Market is growing, and that means a new home for its third season.
The market, which begins its 2025 run this Saturday, July 12, has outgrown its original spot outside the La Broquerie Hotel and is moving to the newly paved outdoor rink beside the HyLife Arena.
“It’s really, really exciting for us,” says market coordinator Sarah Wieler. “We’ve got tons of parking, the splash pad is nearby, the playground is nearby, and it’s walkable for a lot of folks in the community. It really fits our vision.”
More vendors, more space, and live music every weekend
The market has expanded to 30 vendors for opening weekend, with offerings ranging from fresh baking and locally roasted coffee to artisan crafts and garden produce. There’s even a hot dog and burger stand with smokies on the grill.
Each market will also feature two different musical acts performing live sets throughout the afternoon.
“We’ve kind of doubled our artist count,” says Wieler. “We’ll have two performers doing two 45-minute sets each. We’ve got a whole variety lined up over the summer.”
The market will run every other Saturday for a total of five markets this season. Dates and performers will be posted on their website and social media.
A community-focused mission
Wieler says the market has always been about more than just shopping.
“Our goal really is to be a community event,” she explains. “A place for people to connect, to celebrate culture and music, and just hang out and be present in your community.”
That community-minded focus is reflected in the market’s structure. The La Broquerie Farm and Community Market is a not-for-profit cooperative, and Wieler says new vendors, board members, and volunteers are always welcome.
“We’re evolving into our mission, and we’d love to have more people involved in shaping what the market can be.”
Things to bring
Market visitors are encouraged to bring reusable shopping bags, lawn chairs, and sunscreen, and to come prepared to relax and enjoy the music.
“We’re so thrilled with how everything is coming together,” she says. “It’s been an exciting journey to watch this grow.”
The first market of the season runs Saturday, July 13, from 10 to 2 p.m. at the HyLife Arena rink in La Broquerie.
