The Biggar RCMP detachment is keeping busy this summer, dealing with 22 occurrences in their July 14 report, nine separate calls coming in the form of traffic safety concerns.
A report from the highway this week came after a semi-driver from Alberta hit a moose from Saskatchewan, that call mostly just reported for information purposes. Another call that did lead to police interaction came after a reported hit and run in a parking lot in town, as members managed to track down the party responsible and speak with them.
The report from Sgt. Dereck Crozier continued with a pair of suspicious person reports. First, a suspicious male in a grey sedan on 1 Avenue in Biggar was reportedly talking to a child on a bicycle. That tip led to surveillance tapes being pulled, members discovering an individual that was known to them, and upon speaking with the individual in question everything turned out to just be a misunderstanding of interpretation.
The other suspicious actions were related to a pair of young males hanging out around the pool and speaking to the lifeguard on staff. Members were tasked with locating those individuals who were found to be locals who were just using the nearby basketball court.

A few reported thefts also stood out, a reported theft of a diamond ring between two known parties jumping off the page in the July 14 report.
No further updates were given there, as the other two reported thefts came rurally and may have been related. Suspects managed to steal a red Arctic Cat ATV from a yard on Duperow Road located southwest of Biggar, also believed to be the suspects behind diesel thefts from unattended equipment spread throughout the RM of Biggar, west to Tramping Lake.
A potentially related investigation is also ongoing regarding mischief near the Springwater Lake Road gravel pit. Police are asking for anyone with information on these thefts to contact Crime Stoppers.
General information can also be shared through Crime Stoppers, but anyone with information on local crimes are also encouraged to contact their local detachment.
