Unity played host to an exciting AAA baseball game on Monday. The Zone 7 Sun Devils hosted the Parkland Expos for a Monday matinee that didn't disappoint, finishing a 10-9 walk off victory for the home side Sun Devils.
The hits came early as the Sun Devils padded a 6-0 lead through the fourth inning, though after a scoreless fifth, Parkland finally broke through with a big inning to cut the gap to 6-4 entering the seventh.
Unable to cling on to their two-run lead, five more Expos runs in the top of the seventh put the Sun Devils down 9-6 entering the bottom half, but kicking off the comeback, hometown player Connor Ralston blasted a home run to narrow the score to 9-7.
Two walks after kept the tension rising, and after a fly ball to right field marked two outs, the pressure mounted. With the game on the line an error by the Expos allowed the score to tighten to 9-8, then a clutch double drove in two runs to seal the thrilling win.
Putting on a show for his hometown in the win, Ralston went 3/4 during the game with 3 RBI and a run scored off the homer. The Sun Devils also have Keegan Schell from Wilkie, Cale Morris from Rosetown, and Darian Lowe from Macklin on the team for West Central players.
The Sun Devils will hope to make it easier on themselves Tuesday as another home game against East Central graces the diamond in Unity at 6:30 PM.
It's the Sun Devils final home game of the season before a doubleheader in Swift Current Thursday and East Central on Saturday closes out the regular season calendar.
