The County of Grande Prairie is advising residents of an upcoming road construction project that will result in multiple closures and traffic impacts along Range Road 63 beginning at 7:00 a.m. on July 22, 2025. The project is expected to last approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
This roadwork is part of the County’s annual Surfaced Road Rehabilitation program and represents over $4.8 million dollars in capital investment towards the County’s strategic goal of Effective Transportation Networks.
Starting on July 22, Range Road 63 will have the following closures from:
- 7:00 a.m. on July 22 to 7:00 a.m. on July 23: Highway 43 to Township Road 723 (Bauman Road)
- 7:00 a.m. on July 23 to 7:00 a.m. on July 24: Township Road 723 (Bauman Road) to Township Road 730
Additionally, the Clairmont Centre for Recycling & Waste Management, located along this route, will be closed from 8:00 a.m. on July 23 to 8:00 a.m. on July 24.
Once the full closures tentatively end on July 24, Range Road 63, from Highway 43 to Highway 672 (Emerson Trail), will remain under construction with single lane alternating traffic and flagging personnel in place for approximately three weeks, weather dependent.
To support traffic safety and minimize disruptions, road signage will be posted in advance of the closures and live message boards will be placed at key intersections. Drivers are reminded to follow posted signage, obey flagging personnel, and use alternate routes. The County appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation as crews work to improve local roads and infrastructure.
