Monday was a soggy start to what is expected to be a cooler week in Southern Manitoba.

The temperature on Monday did not climb much above 20 degrees in southeastern Manitoba, which is well below the normal high of 26 degrees for this time of year. There was also rain on and off starting Monday and ending early Tuesday afternoon. 

Manitoba Agriculture has provided the following totals for the most recent rain event beginning Monday and ending Tuesday:

  • St. Pierre - 12.5 millimetres (mm)
  • Steinbach - 8.6 mm
  • Richer - 7.8 mm
  • Menisino - 7.5 mm
  • Zhoda - 7.5 mm
  • Rosa - 7.3 mm
  • Dominion City - 7.2 mm
  • Marchand- 6.7 mm
  • Sprague Lake - 5.6 mm
  • Gardenton - 5.2 mm
  • St. Adolphe - 5.0 mm
  • Prawda - 4.7 mm
  • St. Labre - 3.9 mm
  • Elma - 0.6 mm
  • Stead - 0.6 mm
  • Vivian - 0.6 mm
  • Dugald - 0.5
  • Beausejour - 0.4
  • Lac du Bonnet - 0.2

According to Environment Canada, this will continue to be a cooler than normal week for Southern Manitoba. In Steinbach, daytime highs are expected to range from 20 to 23 degrees until Saturday, when the mercury should again climb to a normal high of 26 degrees.

As for precipitation, Environment Canada is forecasting showers Thursday night and Friday.
