The grills were hot, spirits were high, and the vibes were purr-fect at this week’s KMPG Taste of Summer Charity BBQ.
Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue (SAAR), featured charity for this week’s BBQ, had a tail-wagging good time.
Michelle Neufeld, President of SAAR, says she is thankful for all the support.
"Thank you to everybody. This $2,061 goes a long way towards spaying, neutering animals, and stuff like that. It’s very much appreciated,” says Neufeld.
More furry fun
SAAR is currently hosting a Kitten Palooza, an event encouraging people to adopt a cat or kitten.
“We have an overwhelming amount of kittens in our care,” says Neufeld.
While attending the BBQ, Neufeld received some extra exciting news, making the day even better.
“I got a text from one of our big-time donors, and they want to remain anonymous, but they are willing to pay for all the adoptions for cats and kittens for the months of July and August.”
Neufeld says she is blown away by this generosity and is hopeful people will come and apply to adopt a cat or kitten.
A chance to win big
That’s not all, SAAR is holding a summertime raffle to raise funds for the four-legged friends.
You have the chance to win a backyard bundle of a Louisiana Grill and a Pit Boss Cowboy Fire Pit.
The raffle for the backyard bundle is running until Aug. 4; tickets are $4 each, or three tickets for $10.
Neufeld hopes people will stop in at SAAR and visit the animals in their care.
“You can just swing by during our operating hours and just play with the kittens or dogs that we have... It’s super fun.”
