The 8th annual Field of STARS event that took place Tuesday night at Ag in Motion raised a record breaking $600,000.

In a news release STARS says since launching operations in Saskatchewan in 2012, the agriculture sector has been a steadfast supporter of STARS and since the event began in 2018 the gala has raised more than $3.5 million.

Dr. John Froh, president and CEO of STARS said, “To come together, share a meal and connect with one another is just invaluable. The support of one of the world’s largest industries allows us to innovate, staff our exceptional air medical team and ultimately, save the next patient in need.”

During the program for the gala, a former patient, Lyle Griffin shared his story of how just last year, an almost 1,600-kilogram (3,500-pound) wheat combine rolled over his midsection on his future son in law’s farm.

Now walking with just a limp, he told the audience, “I’ll be forever grateful for that red helicopter and the incredible team that saved my life that day.”
