What’s the best thing about watching a great moment of exciting rodeo? Watching it again!

For 2025, the Herbert Stampede is bringing back video replay, allowing fans to re-watch every bull ride, team roping run, and saddle bronc ride at the annual event, set to take place from August 1 to 3.

“Our big screen will have both live action and replay video,” says Levi Speir, president of the Herbert Stampede. He adds that around 2,000 people will go through the gates at what is the southwest Saskatchewan community’s biggest local and tourist draw.

For first-time attendees, Herbert is located just under 50km from Swift Current on the Trans-Canada Highway.

“It’s something that everybody looks forward to every year,” he says.

This will be the 38th Herbert Stampede and is sanctioned by the Canadian Cowboys Association and Dual Approved through the BCRA (British Columbia Rodeo Association). Events include bareback riding, saddle bronc, tie-down and team roping, steer wrestling, bull riding and ladies barrel racing, among others. Last year, more than $75,000 in prize money was awarded to contestants, and with $ 3,500 added in all major events this year, Speir expects that number to increase this time around.

In addition to the rodeo, one of the most popular events of the weekend is Sunday’s wild cow race, and in between events, attendees can enjoy the double-decker beer gardens and the shaded covered grandstand.

Then there’s the evening entertainment.

Lisa Moen is back for 2025 and will perform both Friday and Saturday night.

Organizing a weekend like this is no small task, and to that end, Speir heads a Stampede Committee made up of 25 local members, some of whom have been on the committee since the beginning in 1986.

“The volunteer hours that everyone puts in are greatly appreciated,” says Speir, who also thanks Diamond sponsors Clearlight Energy, Shadwin Trucking/S.O.R.E Oilfield and Tersteege Farms. He also points out that Ward Macza with White Line Rodeo will be providing the stock for the rodeo, which will be announced by Dave Poulsen.

“Dave’s just a very respectable, knowledgeable announcer and we couldn’t be more proud to have him,” he says.
