Country 107 Pet of the Day sontest shares the sweetest “how we met” stories
When we asked you to share a photo of your pet from when they first came into your life — and the story of how you found each other — the response was full of love, laughter, and a few unexpected detours (literally!). From surprise Christmas gifts to roadside rescues, these stories prove that sometimes the best companions come when you least expect them.
Desiree & Ranger – Our Winner!
Congratulations to Desiree, whose story of finding Ranger was randomly chosen to win the latest round of Pet of the Day touched our hearts. After losing their beloved dog Sadie, Desiree and her family visited the humane society “just to look.” That’s when they saw Ranger — a pup with the same markings as Sadie — and knew instantly he was meant to come home with them. He’s kept them busy ever since (especially when it comes to chewing shoes), and they wouldn’t have it any other way!
Taelor & Marloh
It was a regular day at Summer in the City back in 2018 when Taelor spotted a woman with puppies in a basket. That’s all it took — one look at Marloh’s sweet face and Taelor was heading home with a new best friend!
Anita & Belle
Anita wasn’t expecting a Christmas puppy, but life had other plans. As she looked at a litter of pups, one little dog crawled right into her jacket and her heart. Anita says Belle chose her that day — and that made the surprise even more special.
Clayton & Echo
Echo is a Husky-Shepherd mix who’s full of personality — even if people think she looks “scary” at first glance. Clayton calls her his “world” and says she’s as sweet and fluffy as can be. Echo loves naps and showers her dad with affection the moment he walks through the door.
Katie & Nibbles
Katie met Nibbles at a local lumber yard — sick and in need of care. They’d been hoping for a cuddly cat, and Nibbles turned out to be the perfect fit. Katie credits “the cat distribution system” for bringing them together, and Nibbles has been purring in the right home ever since.
Zoey & Dusty
Zoey met Dusty at a Bible camp in Alberta, where the horse just didn’t quite fit the camp life. But the bond was instant. Zoey brought Dusty home and now enjoys the companionship of a wonderful personal horse who found her true place.
Pamela & Murphy
Murphy entered Pamela’s life at just the right time — even though she didn’t realize how much she needed him. He’s become her “little bestie” and the constant she can count on, especially when life gets tough.
Brigitte & Piper
When Brigitte’s daughter sent her an ad for a Maltipoo puppy, the whole family instantly fell for Piper’s charm. On the way to pick her up, they got lost down a maze of gravel roads — but it was all worth it. Piper is now Brigitte’s loyal little shadow, always at her side.
