Zegil Automotive and Transmission teamed up with Pure Country Meats to present a cheque to Rescued Paws following their annual car show.

The car show ran in early July. Despite the early rain, thousands of residents attended the event, which featured a community BBQ, car show, and raffle draw.

"We've always been donating. Our businesses have been active in the community for ten, twenty years," said Shawn Tourot, owner of Pure Country Meats. "We touch base with almost everything here in town."

Every dollar from the event goes towards a local charity, with Zegil and Pure Country choosing Rescued Paws, a Strathmore-based dog shelter, as the recipient.

"Our businesses are always working together to give back to the community, and we want to make sure anything we do goes towards a good cause," added Harold Zegil, owner of Zegil Automotive and Transmission.

A total of $5,495 was raised for Rescued Paws, with the funds coming from vehicle registration and profits from the community BBQ, which featured beef and farmers' sausage made at Pure Country.

"We don't have a large amount of large donations very often," said Kyla Janes, owner of Rescued Paws. "It's super overwhelming to be gracious enough to be given this gift."

Seven dogs were adopted during the event, with three other dogs finding foster homes.

"My favourite part is getting the pictures later of the fun family activities that they're doing," added Janes. "It just warms my heart for the whole process."

This was the fifth annual car show put on by Zegil and Pure Country in Strathmore.
