Chemawawin RCMP search for escapee
On July 21, 2025, at approximately 3:30 pm, Chemawawin RCMP arrested a male for breaching conditions of a release order at a residence on Airport Road in Chemawawin Cree Nation.
The male was placed in handcuffs and put in the back of a police vehicle.
Prior to transport to the detachment, a 28-year-old female known to the male, approached the vehicle and assisted in his escape.
Roberto Easter, 30, from Chemawawin, was last seen fleeing into the dense brush.
A search for the escaped suspect is now underway. Detachment officers are being supported by a number of specialized Manitoba RCMP units, including: Police Dog Services (PDS), Manitoba RCMP North District Containment Team, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (drone).
There is no threat to public safety as RCMP continue the search.
The 28-year-old female from Chemawawin was arrested and charged with Escape Lawful Custody, Resist/Obstruct Police Officer and Uttering Threats.
