One unique addition to this year's Strathmore Stampede is the inclusion of Real Canadian Wrestling (RCW).

The local wrestling group, led by Strathmore resident Steve Wilde, will be performing Stampede Smackdown at the Strathmore Family Centre gold arena on Aug. 3.

"It's going to be a different level of wrestling at the show," said Wilde. "I won't say it's going to an uncensored event, but there is going to be a heightened level of wrestling and different types of matches."

The event is 18+ and features live music, followed by a cabaret after the show. This cabaret is not the same as the Dominos Cowboy Cabaret, which takes place the previous night.

"The main event is going to be what we call a 'Strathmore street fight,'" added Wilde. "There are two young guys that did some dastardly things at the last Strathmore show, and we lost our tag team titles to these kids."

There will be other classic RCW wrestlers at the event, including Raj Singh, son of legendary wrestler Gama Singh. Other wrestlers include Moondog Manson, Ginha, and more.

"Ginha is going against local fan favourite Farmer Jake, and he's one of the guys who has really come far in the Strathmore market."

Wilde added that there are other surprises coming to the Stampede Smackdown, but that fans will have to wait and see what they are.

Tickets for the event are available on the Strathmore Stampede's website. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.
