The Strathmore Skatepark will be getting a public art mural by the end of the summer.

Town council approved the mural at their meeting on Wednesday (July 23), with Prospect Human Services requesting to paint the project.

Concepts for the mural include:

  • A bold, graffiti-inspired mural of the words “Strathmore Skatepark” in bright, dynamic lettering on the exterior wall of the bowl.
  • Handprints and signatures of participating artists.
  • A large mural depicting a skateboarder.
  • A whimsical, illustrated map of Strathmore highlighting local landmarks and attractions.

"This project is intended to be a collaborative effort that includes members of Skatemore Girls as well as local youth groups," wrote the Town of Strathmore on its website.

Prospect Human Services has helped to paint several other murals in town, including the recent project outside of the King Eddy pub.

Work on the mural will begin in late August.
