Community spirit is high at the Landmark Friendship Festival, through rain and shine.
Though the evening started off with an intense spurt of rain, community members were quick to help attach walls to the tent and stick around for an evening of fun.
Organizers Aleah and Pam say that as new members to Landmark, it is great to see the sense of community at this event.
“It's wonderful for someone like myself who's new to the community. I look forward to these events so I can meet new people and get to know my fellow constituents.” Says Pam.
Aleah agrees, saying that Landmark is the most welcoming community she has ever joined.
“You see that in the Community spirit. Case in point, the massive downpour that we just experienced and everyone rushing to get the sides of the tent up to protect our sound equipment and our important band.”
Landmark Friendship Festival is a favourite event not only for newcomers, but also for many in the town.

Though there is no perfect record, organizers suspect this year will be the 25th anniversary of the event. Local support is a driving force behind this long-standing event.
“All this stuff is pretty much by donation, and the community really steps up to show just how much they care about our community here.”
The first day of festivities brought hot dog roasting, Gelly Ball, cornhole, a mechanical bull, and line dancing.
Saturday will be a family fun day full of food trucks, a kid zone, music, bingo, and fireworks.
Sunday will close the festival with coffee and muffins, followed by a church service and lunch.
The Dairy Queen Celebrate Summer jeep will be at tons more events throughout the summer. Keep an eye out for us at fairs festivals and other fun events for a chance to win some prizes!
