Second aviation tragedy in July

Earlier this month, two student pilots were killed in a mid-air collision near Steinbach.

At approximately 8:45 a.m. on July 8, emergency crews responded to a crash involving two small, single-engine planes in the Rural Municipality of Hanover. The incident occurred during routine flight training at Harv’s Air and claimed the lives of both pilots.

One of the victims was identified as Savanna May Royes, 20, from Aurora, Ontario. The Consulate General of India in Toronto confirmed the other pilot was an international student from India.

Both incidents remain under investigation by RCMP and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
