Despite the rain kicking off the weekend, Fingers on Fire 3 went off without a hitch.

Hundreds of residents made it out to Kinsmen Park on Saturday (July 26) for the event, which featured dozens of homemade fingerboard parks alongside a community BBQ.

This is the third time the event has been posted in town, with the get-together being organized by Strathmore resident Brandon Kehler.

"The basic goal for today was to give away as much free stuff as possible, and for people to make connections," said Kehler. "So, after today, those people will still want to hang out, link up, and hopefully they start something in their own community."

With fingerboarding being a niche hobby, there were boarders from as far as Toronto attending the event. There were also several vendors selling fingerboards, miniature park equipment, and crochet stuffies.

"The event is doing awesome," added Kehler. "There are definitely more people so far than we had here this time last year. A lot of that is people signing up for events."

There were also several competitions, including best trick and S.K.A.T.E., where boarders attempt to match their competitors' tricks.

"There seems to be more of a scene established in eastern Canada, but nothing really in western Canada. So, to see the brands come out, I think it's important to get the community together and have these types of things, especially in a place where it isn't booming or happening already."

Fingers on Fire is the only fingerboarding event of its kind in the Calgary area.
