November 5, 1952 – July 24, 2025

It is with deep heartbreak that we announce the sudden passing of Donna Lee Sellinger — beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend — on July 24, 2025, at home in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, at the age of 72.

Donna is survived by her husband Raymond Sellinger; and their three daughters: Dionne Sellinger (Chris), Gina Duguid (Lance), and Lacey Sellinger (Troy). She will be forever missed by her grandchildren; Jackson, Charlie, and Stella. She also leaves behind her brother Ted Hesch (Terry); sister-in-laws: MaryLynn Kemp (Cal), and Lorrie Hesch; as well as many treasured nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of cherished friends who were like family.

She was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Donald Hesch, and her beloved younger brother Kevin Hesch.

Donna was born on November 5, 1952 in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. As the only daughter and the middle child, she grew up on the family farm south of Shaunavon — a place that nurtured her love of the land, her creative spirit, and her resilient nature. From an early age, she was a tomboy and a firecracker — artistic and active in sports like volleyball, basketball, and curling — always ready for her next adventure.

Music was woven through every chapter of her life. She grew up in a home where it was a part of every gathering, and she carried that tradition on. Learning everything by ear, there wasn’t a tune she couldn’t whistle, or play on the guitar, the piano, ukulele, and harmonica - even the spoons! Her beautiful mezzo voice loved to find the harmony in every melody, and true to form, she joined a local band in her seventies, proving that it’s never too late to chase joy.

Donna had the soul of an artist and the hands of a builder. A passionate DIY-er, she was endlessly creative and always busy with her latest project. She could sew anything, fix anything, and build just about everything — and she made it all look easy. Donna had a keen eye, collecting what others might have discarded, transforming it into something beautiful. Her home was filled with these unique pieces. Creativity wasn’t just a hobby for Donna — it was a way of life.

She married Ray in 1975, and together they built a life filled with laughter and love. After Ray’s accident in 1983, Donna’s strength shone even brighter.

She met every challenge with grace and grit, raising three daughters with unwavering love and wisdom. With her hardworking spirit and incredible sense of humor, she made sure her family not only survived, but thrived.

Donna was an incredible host. Whether it was a planned gathering or a surprise visit, she was ready to welcome you. Her door was always open and her kitchen stocked with homemade baking including her coveted cinnamon buns, and all the essentials for a good cocktail. Family birthdays and special occasions inevitably included her famous black forest cake!

So full of life, Donna was up for anything and spent her retirement years having countless adventures with her friends and family - visiting Dunedin to watch the Blue Jays train, taking a bus trip with her girlfriends to Arizona or New Orleans, and traveling to see live music. She loved to golf, paint, travel, line dance, aqua size, garden, play music….she taught us the meaning of living life to the fullest!

She was the foundation of our family, bringing us all together with love and her unwavering support. She was our rock, and her absence will leave a void that can never truly be filled. But her legacy of strength, kindness, creativity, and joy will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to know her.

We’ll miss her music, her laugh, her stories, her advice, her cooking, her courage, and her love. But we’ll carry her with us — in every song, every sunset, every project we start with our own two hands.

Donna gave us everything, and she would never want us to forget how beautiful life can be.

Join us at 2:00 p.m. on September 6, 2025, at the Frontier Building at Kinetic Park (the Saloon) to celebrate this incredible woman’s life and legacy.
