A pilot project from a local art gallery is set to kick off over the long weekend with a duo of talented artists at a southwest provincial park.
Aurora Wolfe and Melanie Monique Rose will stay at the Saskatchewan Landing from August 1 to 7, leading art workshops and spending time connecting with nature.
Luke Maddaford, curator of exhibitions and programming at the Art Gallery of Swift Current, shared that the initiative is thanks to a new partnership between the Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park and the Art Gallery of Swift Current.
"We're hoping to continue to bring artists out to the land," he said. "Particularly artists who have land-based practices and incorporate the landscape, flora, and fauna into their work."
Four workshops will be held at the Goodwin House, and everyone is welcome to join for free.
"Saturday will be the first workshop at 1:00 p.m., and that'll be a botanical silk scarf workshop with Melanie Monique Rose," said Maddaford. "The next day, on Sunday, will be a sun printing workshop with Aurora Wolfe, also at 1:00 p.m.
"Then Sunday at 7:00 p.m. will be a campfire artist talk with Wolfe, and on Monday at 7:00 p.m. will be a campfire artist talk with Rose."
