A heat warning is in effect for Wheatland County, including Strathmore, Lyalta, and Carseland.
Environment Canada issued the warning on Wednesday (July 30), as temperatures will increase to a high of 30C.
The weather agency advises residents to take precautions, including:
- Rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours.
- Drinking water to stay hydrated.
- Taking frequent breaks from the heat.
- Checking for pets and children left in a hot vehicle.
"Monitor for symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, such as high body temperature, lack of sweat, confusion, fainting, and unconsciousness," wrote Environment Canada.
Environment Canada also reminds families to check on individuals who have pre-existing medical conditions, are elderly, or are infants, as they are at higher risk of heat-related issues.
The heat warnings are expected to end as temperatures cool off throughout this weekend.
