Two highly entertaining senior baseball playoff series will have a third and final game. The Macklin Lakers won last night to stay alive in the Battle River Baseball League finals against the Veteran Bulls, while the North Battleford Beavers did the same against the Unity Cardinals to remain alive for one more game in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League championship.

Starting with the BRBL, the Macklin Lakers won 8-5 on the backs of patient hitters and a gem on the mound from Jared Hillis. Headed back home, Game 3 will be played in Macklin next week on Wednesday, August 6 at 6:30 PM.

In the other league final, the North Battleford Beavers extended the series with a 5-2 win against Unity at home on Wednesday. The Cardinals were unable to capitalize with runners on base against a good Beavers team, now set to return to their temporary home in Wilkie for Game 3, also on August 6, with the league title on the line.

Before the winner-take-all Wednesday around West Central Saskatchewan, the Cardinals have provincials this weekend, Unity taking on the Tier 1 rank this year amongst some of the provinces best senior talent. The rest of the tournaments go next weekend, Macklin heading to play Tier 3 in Carnduff.
