An upcoming fundraiser for the Pat Porter Active Living Centre (PPALC) is aiming to be a hole-in-one.

The centre’s annual golf tournament returns on August 26 at the Steinbach Fly-In Golf Club, raising funds to help cover PPALC’s property taxes, says executive director Audrey Harder.

"It's always a great time. People are kind of relaxed, it's the end of August, and they're getting ready to go out for one more last long weekend. So it's a good time to get together," she says.

The tournament starts at 9 a.m., with registration set at $130 per person. That includes a $60 charitable tax receipt.

Participants can register in teams of four, or sign up individually and be paired with others.

"There's always room for more," Harder says.

While golf is the focus of the day, she says players can also look forward to activities at select holes, prizes, and a 50/50 draw.

Everyone is welcome.

"We've had a whole team of first-timers. There is a prize for the lowest score, which is the best I'm told. There's also a prize for the highest scoring team, so hey, you can win either way. We call them the 'Most Honest Team,'" Harder says.

She says the tournament is all about fun, community, and supporting a good cause.

Anyone wanting to participate in, or sponsor, the tournament can learn more on the PPALC’s website.
